FRESH ICELANDIC FISH

Djúpið Fish was founded in 2019 by Áslaug R. Thorarensen, who is the owner and managing director of the company today. From the beginning, the goal has been simple: to offer fresh, carefully handled Icelandic fish, with quality, craftsmanship, and good utilization of the raw material at the forefront.

Djúpið is a family business located at Fiskislóð 28 in the Grandi area of Reykjavík. All processing takes place there in a facility of about 1,200 square meters specially equipped for fish processing.

The fish arrives fresh daily, whole, and is hand-filleted by Djúpið's staff. We believe good craftsmanship matters enormously – both for the quality of the product and for making the fullest possible use of each piece of raw material.

Among what we produce are fresh fillets, cuts and loin portions, ready-made fish dishes, breaded fish, overnight-salted fish, minced and stew fish products, fish cheeks, fish "gellur"(throat muscles), and smoked fish. By-products such as skin, bones, and liver are also put to further use.

Djúpið is licensed for both domestic sale and export, along with a freezing license. The company operates under the HACCP quality system and is classified as an A-company by the Icelandic Food and Veterinary Authority (Matvælastofnun).

At Djúpið, everything centers on freshness, quality, and respect for Icelandic raw materials – from whole fish until the finished product leaves us.
